Teaser Tuesday is brought to you by Should Be Reading (and was recommended to me by Smash). To play along, just:
- Grab your current read.
- Let the book fall open to a random page.
- Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12. (Please avoid spoilers.)
You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
Please avoid spoilers!

My Teaser:
from page 87 of The Winter Queen by Boris Akunin"At the initial stage one has to divine where a particular child's greatest talent lies -- in the body, the head, or the intuition. After that, the children will be divided into groups, not according to age but according to type: rationalists, artistes, craftsmen, leaders, sportsmen, and so on."
(I thought this was a Russian murder mystery. I have no idea where that teaser fits into the picture yet.)
"[Harvy] Kurtzman set his old friend loose at Mad, and [Will] Elder ovran the pages with bits of lunatic business -- unscripted little stories within stories, visual non-sequiturs, kooky details. In the opeing panel of Elder's one contribution to the premiere issue of Mad ("Ganfels!"), Elder added no fewer than three dozen sight gags not in the script."
