Ash Wednesday already.... I missed Shrove Tuesday.. For those who do not know Shrove Tuesday comes before Ash Wednesday and is the day that we (as in Englnad) eat pancakes, I don't mean as in American small rubber ones but more like crepes. Thin and normally covered in sugar and lemon juice. The idea is to clear your cuboards before lent of all the fatty foot.... And I misssed my pancakes *pout*
Storyheart -- I wondered what the connection was between pancakes and Shrove Tuesday. I see your Shrove Tuesday and raise you one Mardi Gras. Guess the Americans pick beads over pancakes (Although I didn't celebrate that either).
Lady K wanted to know what the deal was with the pancakes yesterday, too. They had them at lunch at her school. For her, if they aren't Minnie Mouse pancakes, they ain't worth the time. = ) She votes beads over pancakes, too. My friend who lives in Louisiana sent Lady K a honkin' big box of Mardi Gras treasure last year. That girl was in heaven!
Did you make that quilt and the one in the next post up? I love them both even if you didnt make them ..thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such nice comments .. its a pleasure to get to know you.
Beautiful!! I'd have to hang that on the wall as art.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely. I'm ready for spring, too!
