Unacceptable Behavior

Dear Front Flower Garden,

I believed in you. I listened to the local hardware store people when they said October was time to plant fall bulbs for spring flowers. I special ordered crocus, hyacinths, daffodils and more. I measured the depth of the holes with a tape-measure and little bulb-diggy thing.

What did I get for my trouble?

Hmmm... looks to me like it's still November. And yet...

Now, I know we've been having highs in the mid-70s ever since you were planted, but that's just West Texas. It's no excuse for this type of behavior. Because, tonight... freezing temps.

Say goodbye to my spring garden. Guess it's store-bought daffodils again for 2010...sniff.

  1. I am SOOO not a green thumb type of person and I desperately want to grow a garden! I'm waiting till next year to start, but this would be so discouraging! I feel for you! ( :

  2. They'll probably still come up in the spring, too. Believe me, NC gets wacky warm fall-winter weather every year, and countless bulbs start to sprout. They die back, bur return in the spring. So don't lose hope in those daffies!

  3. Aww, what a shame! There's still time for them to buck up though :-)

  4. Throw some mulch down to maybe keep them comfy. They will likely come back in the spring. They love the cold to rev them up.
I didn't even have time to throw in this year's bulbs, so good on ya!

  5. The Joys of Gardening!!! Thanks for making me smile, I've been there too.

Mulch would definately make the bed more cosy!

    Happy WW!
