We are very focused on our toys around here these days:

Family Christmas Tree Skirt

(Originally published at TexasRed Quilts on February 19, 2010. Looking forward to getting this out again!)

Whew! Finally finished!

Here's the front (the red diamonds were the fabric that inspired this project -- it was from the bridesmaids' dresses from my in-laws wedding):

Here's the back (very pepperminty):

And here's to not seeing this thing again until November! Cheers!

Bookish Update -- Game of Thrones, Anyone?

Currently Reading: The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

Most Recently Completed: Fatally Flaky by Diane Mott Davidson (Great light murder mystery read. This was my only nod to Halloween-ish literature this year. I know, it only slightly qualifies because it involves murder.)

Series I'm in the Middle Of: Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

This series was recommended to me by half a dozen friends -- either based on the books or the HBO series. Since we don't get HBO, I decided to check out the books. I can't review them separately because, honestly, they don't seem like separate books to me. This is especially true of books 4 & 5 where the author included a note that he wrote about all the characters and it was way too long, so he pulled half the characters' stories into another book (book 5). I've made it through the first 4 (a little obsessively) -- taking a short break now while I figure out if I can get an electronic copy of book 5 from the library.

What have y'all been reading lately?

Crocheted Turtle Family

(Originally published at TexasRed Quilts on July 6, 2010.  This is especially cute now that the boys are in a nursery class called "Tiny Turtles."  The little guys are destined for shadow boxes in the not-too-distant future!)

I've taken a small break from quilting to work on some more Japanese crochet (Amigurumi) toys. Here's a pic of the turtle family in progress now:

This pattern is in Ana Paula Rimoil's book Amigurumi Two!

Twins Fascinated with Each Other

(Originally published at TexasRed and the Twins on september 14, 2011.)

The boys are definitely getting to the stage where they're paying lots of attention to each other --- and to things like switches and levers!
